Olympic Flame Torch Relay Devon

The Olympic Flame or Olympic Torch is a symbol of the Olympic Games, its origins in ancient Greece.

On Friday 27 July, 2012, the eyes of the world will be on London for the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games, when the Olympic Flame arrives at the Olympic Stadium for the lighting of the caldron to signify the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

In the build up to the start of the event, the Olympic Flame will make its journey from Greece and arrive in the UK on May 18, ready for the Olympic Torch Relay to begin the following day.

Representing peace, unity and friendship, the Flame will start its 70-day journey around the UK heading towards the Olympic Stadium. The Flame carried throughout the distance by 8,000 inspirational Torchbearers.

On Monday 21 May, 2012, from 7.28am onwards, the Olympic Torch will travel from Exeter to West Devon and be carried through the following communities:
