North Tawton Mid-Summer Festival 2011

North Tawton Town Hall Management Committee has recently acquired a cinema license, therefore, to raise awareness, the theme for this year’s Mid-Summer Festival is Films.

The festival starts with the Saturday Market on Saturday 18 June and concludes with the Whist Drive on Thursday 7 July, and is the Town Hall’s main fundraising event with all profits going towards the running costs of the hall. Full programme of events, which take place at the Town Hall unless otherwise stated, as follows:

Festival Market – Films Prize

On Saturday 18 June at 10am.  Table tops available priced at £5.00. Please contact Lin Ford on 01837 880031  to book your table. (sorry, no traders). Prizes will be given to the best decorated stall and, the stall that most closely follows the theme of films.

Cash Bingo

Saturday evening, the popular cash bingo featuring the regular jackpot, lucky number and prize draw. Doors open at 7.15pm for eyes down at 8pm. Refreshments will be available at half-time.

Open Air Service

This year, the United Reformed Methodist Church of North Tawton will lead the open air service in The Square, at 11am, on Sunday 19 June, with the Revd Philip Wagstaff preaching. The Hatherleigh Silver Band will offer the music. There will be a collection for Devon Air Ambulance Trust and Shelterbox. All are welcome.

There is, of course, a wet weather provision, whereupon the service will take place at St Peter’s Church.

Walking Treasure Hunt – Cream Teas

Sunday afternoon, the walking treasure hunters will leave the Square between 2pm and 2.30pm. Entry cost is £1.50 per person. The hunt finishes at the Town Hall with cream teas and a prize draw. Everyone is welcome to come along and join the treasure hunters for delicious cream teas, from 3.00pm.

Quiz Night

On Wednesday 22 June, doors open at 7.30pm for 8pm start. Admission cost is £5 per team of up to five people. Licensed bar, prize draw and snacks.

Kiddies Disco

On Thursday 23 June, from 6pm to 8.30pm. Children’s disco featuring spot prizes. There will be drinks and snacks available. Entry cost is £2.00 per child, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Then on Saturday 26 June, another round of cash bingo. Featuring the regular jackpot, lucky number and prize draw. Doors open at 7.15pm for eyes down at 8pm. Refreshments will be available at half-time.

Walking Treasure Hunt – Cream Teas

Sunday 27 June, another walking treasure hunt, departing from the Square between 2pm and 2.30pm. Entry cost is £1.50 per person. The hunt finishes with cream teas at Monica’s. This event is in aid of North Tawton Guide Funds.  Wet Weather provision: Cream teas in the Town Hall.

Whist Drive

On Thursday 7 July, the concluding event for this year’s Midsummer Festival, the popular whist drive. Doors open at 7.30pm for 8pm start. Entry cost is £1.50 per person. There will be a prize draw and refreshments.
