Nominate London 2012 Olympic Torchbearer

In less than a year’s time on 19 May 2012, the Olympic Flame will arrive in the UK from Greece and the 70 day Olympic Torch Relay will start at Land’s End, Cornwall. On leaving Land’s End, the Olympic Flame will travel an estimated 8,000 miles around the UK. A different town and city of the UK will formally welcome the Olympic Flame every evening of the Torch Relay.

At the end of the Torch Relay, the Olympic Flame will arrive at the Olympic Stadium on 27 July 2012 for the lighting of the cauldron at the Opening Ceremony, which will be the official start of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Nominations for Torchbearers will be truly incredible people whose personal stories will inspire millions of people watching the Olympic Torch Relay. The organisers are looking for stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things from any walk of life, anywhere in the UK.

Around 90% of the torch bearers selected will be members of the public with a focus on young people aged 12 – 24 whose personal stories will inspire millions of people as the 70-day relay travels the length and breadth of the UK.
