Belstone Craft Fair 2011

In a rather unsettling year, the time has arrived for a welcome return of the Belstone Craft Fair that many in Devon look forward to taking place, in the Village Hall, admission free, on Saturday, 12th November, from 10.00am until 4.00pm, with refreshments available.

New faces appearing in this year’s popular event include Tim Piper from North Tawton; renowned craftsman who works in the historic traditional style with leather, including producing a distinctive range of bags. David Gundry will display his unique pottery creation and to which he will be devoting his creative talents in further developments, since his recent retirement as a local doctor.

The exquisite masks created by Theresa Rodraguez will be a further delight awaiting visitors and a welcome return of Deborah Flack with her dazzling designs of dresses and scarves in hand dyed silks together with her delicate jewellery add to the attractions of the fair.

Much of the stunning ironwork of Dave Dunford remains as practical in use today as in days gone by, with other items showing his artistry in working with iron. Similarly, the artistry of Mike Watson, working with wood demonstrated in items of sheer beauty and those that have a practical purpose.

Hand spun woollen items by Jenny Neal, with wool from her sheep, bring together past values with present uses. The entrancing past times captured in the naïve art paintings by Ursula Radford, recently exhibited in New York, are sure to bring smiles of appreciation to the faces of visitors to the fair, as they did in the USA.
