Anyone for Badminton

Badminton Club at North Tawton Town Hall

Badminton’ origin can be traced back to the mid-18th century, then known as the traditional English game of battledore and shuttlecock.

In 1992, badminton became an Olympic sport with five events: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles, in which each pair consists of a man and a woman. At such high levels of play the sport demonstrates excellent fitness with players employing aerobic stamina, agility, strength, speed and precision.

“…will need lightning-fast reactions if they’re to keep up with shuttlecocks travelling at speeds in excess of 400km/h.”

Here in North Tawton, the well established badminton club offers players of all ages and abilities the opportunity to enjoy a game every Monday evening at North Tawton Town Hall.
