In a rather unsettling year, the time has arrived for a welcome return of the Belstone Craft Fair that many in Devon look forward to taking place, in the Village Hall, admission free, on Saturday, 12th November, from 10.00am until 4.00pm, with refreshments available.
New faces appearing in this year’s popular event include Tim Piper from North Tawton; renowned craftsman who works in the historic traditional style with leather, including producing a distinctive range of bags. David Gundry will display his unique pottery creation and to which he will be devoting his creative talents in further developments, since his recent retirement as a local doctor.
The long-established Chagford Art Group will be holding its Annual Summer Exhibition from Wednesday 10th until Saturday 13th August, from 10.00am until 5.00pm daily, admission free, in the Jubilee Hall, Chagford. The group has gained a wide reputation that exceeds county or area boundaries through its popular mutual-help policy in which member artists share their expertise with others. This year’s exhibition features work in watercolours, oils, pastels and acrylics that includes landscapes by Jo James, Chinese expression by Pat Boyd, aviation specialism by Michael Wheeler and naive scenes by Ursula Radford who will be including some of her new work completed since her New York exhibition.
In July 2011, the beautiful and historic church of St Michael the Archangel, Chagford, will be celebrating 750 years since its dedication by Bishop Branscombe in 1261. To mark this important event, Chagford will be hosting a Flower Festival depicting the interesting and diverse history of the church.
